We are thrilled to have Mari Clarke join the Scrapbook Nerd Creative Team.
Mari is a very busy lady, wearing many hats. By day she is a high school teacher and counsellor, which keeps her very busy when school is in. During her free time, Mari is a lover of all things creative and crafty. She has been a painter and crafter for decades and that now translates into her love of mixed media on her paper crafting projects.
Mari is currently on the JustNick Design Team and is also an avid YouTuber with her own YouTube channel where she showcases her process videos, scrapbooking, Project Life, mixed media, art journaling and haul videos. You can find her YouTube channel HERE.
Mari lives in Arborfield, SK, and her favourite place to be is anywhere her family is. She is the mother of two adult children who are still the inspiration for many of her projects.
When not crafting you may see Mari meeting new people and hearing their stories over a cup of Tim’s.
Welcome to the Scrapbook Nerd Team, Mari. We look forward to being inspired by you over the next few months!
Hey there nerds!
As I sit here writing this blog post it was anything but fall-like outside here today, temperatures were in the 30’s in Ontario. Hot enough to kick on the A/C unit at my house and extend flipflop season a little longer.
Today’s art journal page is all about my mum. Fall was definitely her season and even though the temperature is abnormally high, we still have leaves changing colour and falling to the ground. I hope you enjoy today’s video and I hope you get inspired.
The pages in the Vicki Boutin Junque Journal can be mixed up together depending on the inserts you purchase. I like mixing some of that kraft papers randomly into my journal.
I found it a bit challenging to work with the folded page on the left, but I think I got it worked out. I had to keep reminding myself that the page did not have to match the page on the front.
In the end, I think the page came together when I added the Umber paint using a circle stencil and paint splatter. Before that point to my eye, it just didn’t look right.
If you have any questions please let me know in your comment.
Thank you for stopping by the SN blog today.
Milena is new to the Scrapbook Nerd Design Team – but not new to Scrapbook Nerd. She has been part of our Inspiration Team for the past few years as our sketch designer. Many of you have been inspired by her sketches and have used them as a jump-off point for your projects.
Milena is going to continue to inspire us with her sketches, and will also be sharing her beautiful projects with us, and inspiring us through tutorials.
Milena and her husband, Dave, have two beautiful daughters who are 20 and 16 years of age. They have been a great part of Milena’s inspiration and the main subject matter of her projects.
Milena began scrapbooking over 17 years ago. She struggled with finding the time to devote to her creative endeavours while her girls were younger, but is now enjoying a little more freedom to create.
Milena is primarily a Scrapbooker, but is beginning to branch out into card-making, stamping, and mixed media.
We are thrilled to welcome Milena to the Design Team and are looking forward to seeing what she has in store for us.
You can see more of Milena’s projects in the Scrapbook Nerd Gallery or on the Scrapbook Nerd Instagram page.
Milena our sketch designer has another fabulous multi-photo layout sketch to share with us.
Remember you can use the sketch as is or you can turn the sketch on its side or change the photo size to suit your needs. Make sure to scroll down to see three different takes on this sketch.
First up, Milena created a fun layout about her daughter. She used the Dream On collection from Pinkfresh Studio. We really love the pop of navy in that collection and the layering that Milena added with pattern papers, puffy stickers and cut apart pieces from the collection.
Next up, Nathalie created a Traveller’s Notebook spread with the sketch in mind. Nathalie flipped the sketch to the left to get a vertical row of photos. You’ll notice she was able to keep some of the layering pieces/embellishments pretty true to the original sketch.
The last take on the sketch is from Joy.
Joy used the main section of the sketch where the photos are to inspire her card. Focusing on one portion of the sketch really helped the idea for this card come to life. The cute little-watercoloured bears are so fun!
Thanks for stopping by the SN blog, if you have any questions the team is just a comment away.
We hope you got inspired and join in on the sketch challenge in our Facebook Friends page
You could win a $10.00 gift certificate for linking up your take on the sketch.
Deadline to enter your project is Sept. 30th, 2017. Milena’s layout – Pinkfresh Studio – Dream On Collection
We are so excited to announce that we have a new Design Team that will be sharing their amazing talent and creativity with us. Each of these ladies have amazed us with their projects. We are looking forward to being inspired by each of these ladies and know that you are in for a real treat. Join us each Friday for the next few weeks where you will get to know each new member.
It’s always sad to say good-bye to our out-going team. They have been a true pleasure to work with. Thankfully though, goodbye doesn’t mean forever as we know that they will be forever part of the Scrapbook Nerd family!
Introducing Gisele Julien
Gisèle Julien taught in New Brunswick for 32 years and is now retired. Gisèle’s 1st trip after retirement, was, what else, a scrapbooking cruise to the Caribbean! She is very involved with volunteering with Project Linus: blankets for children in crisis. She loves to spend time with her great-nieces who are usually her scrapbook subjects. Her other favourite subjects are trips, and family get togethers.
Scrapbooking has taken over her passion to create and to preserve family memories. It has been a big part of who she is since 2005 when this craft was introduce to her by a colleague. She has always been involved in crafts of some kind so this has fed her creativity.
Gisèle has had the pleasure of taking classes from many international scrap designers and enjoys attending crops and Paper Crafting events whenever she can.
Gisèle is an avid scrapbooker who has been published in The Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine (now know as Creative Scrapbooker) and the e-magazine Ready Set Create. She has also been a designer for other online and retail stores.
You can find her on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter.
Nathalie, with you today, bringing you a bit of inspiration using the newly released “X to my O” cut file. This new file was designed by the Cut Shoppe exclusively for Scrapbook Nerd, and you can find it in the store for free.
I played a bit with the original design, and separated the files, so that i can cut the outer circle out of patterned paper, while choosing to create a stitching guide for the xo pattern.
For this page, I reached for MME’s On Trend 2 collection, so the stitching was completed with the colors of the papers in the collection.
Once the stitching was done, I cut the circle from one of the papers in the collection, and used a bit of foam tape to attach it to the stitched mat.
The picture of my niece on her 8th birthday was then placed inside the bottom corner of the circle, and then I used various embellies from the collection to create a cluster at the bottom corner of the picture.
A simple title at the opposite corner of the cluster complete the layout. I just love the texture and dimension on this page, and it all was created based on the new “X to O” cut file. So stop by the Scrapbook Nerd Store to pick up your free copy of the cut file. Remember to tag @scrapbooknerdca whenever you share your finished projects using this cut file onto social media. We love to see how you use the files!!
As always, I am a comment away if you need assistance or have a question on how this came together.
