Hello there!

I hope you all have enjoyed a LOVE filled week.   This month i was lucky to have different collections to play with, but  i think that overall the theme for  this month’s reveal was love and simplicity.   So let me give you a quick run-through all the projects:

  •  XOXO

The page is all about the special bond my two youngest children have for each other.   The project was created using Simple Stories’s “Love and Adore ” collection, a bit of hand stitching, and watercolor.

  • LOVE 16 –  Tutorial on creating Paper Rosettes.

This month’s tutorial was all about showing you a way to create paper rosettes that could be used in your projects.   My choice of project is a layout about my husband and I on the day of our 16th wedding anniversary.  To highlight the Love theme in this project, I chose to work with Simple Storie’s “Love and Adore” collection,  and Crate Paper’s “Heart Day” collection.

I am fascinated with taking selfies whenever i can get my hands on my nephew (trust me, he is hard to catch).   For this project I chose Pinkfresh Studio’s “Life Noted” and “The Mix #1” collections.   A hand stitched large title became the focus of this page.

You can say, I love large bold floral designs.  I love to fussy cut the images to create layouts with them.  In this case, the large floral paper from American Crafts’s “Hazelwood” collection was perfect to document a picture of my sister and my niece.

My last project of this month highlights the beautiful “Winter Wonderland” collection from Simple Stories.  A large snowflake image (created with a cut file from The Cut Shoppe.   The design of the page is simple, but with lots of details around.

I hope you can draw inspiration from this group of layouts for your personal projects.   Remember to stop by the Scrapbook Nerd store to check what the ladies are bringing in.

If you have any questions on how any of the pages came together, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Till next time!

Simple Stories The Reset Girl Collection with Barb

Creative Team projects at scrapbooknerd.com

Barb @ scrapbooknerd.com

We are at the end of another week. Can you believe it? Where does the time go?
I’m back today to share my projects for this week. I’ve been having a lot of fun with the Simple Stories The Reset Girl Collection. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this collection, you really must. It is so fun. The collection is feminine, but not so much so that it made it difficult for this mother of only boys to be able to use. I’m usually out of my comfort zone when working with girlie products, but this one was easy!

Project One – Award of Excellence
If you feel like you’ve seen this before, you have. It was used in my tutorial, earlier this week, on how to make embellishment clusters. You can find the tutorial HERE.

The crafting/planner side of this collection lended themselves perfectly to this layout of my Teacher sister who received an award for her accomplishments in the classroom.

Project Two – The Nerd Girls

Once I saw the Nerd glasses in this collection, I knew that I had to do a layout of Joy and I (The Nerd Girls). I have found the embellishments in this collection so easy to work with and so versatile for so many different themes.

Project Three – Hello Girl

I fell in love with the retro ladies in this collection the moment I saw them. My original plan was to do a layout about my mother, but changed my mind when I saw how perfectly they worked with photos from 2016. They are adorable!

I have had so much fun working with this collection and am thrilled that I still have so much of it left over that I will be able to make several more projects with it.

Thanks for checking out the blog today. If you haven’t seen this collection, get over to the store and check it out. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do!

I can’t believe how fast this week has passed, and now it is time to share all my September projects with you all.

This month, I drew my inspiration from different places, and played with different paper collections along the way.  Black and white photos, lots of white space and simplicity were the theme for this month’s reveals.  Here is a quick recap:

  • MY GIRL:  this layout about my teenage daughter was created using Crate Paper’s Cute Girl collection, and a Studio Calico cut file.
    MY GIRL @scrapbooknerd

  • LET’S GO:  The layout came together using some mixed media, and fussy cut elements from the last Shimelle paper collections.

LET"S GO @scrapbooknerd

  • BEST EVER :   This week’s Silhouette Savvy Series entry on this blog.   A step by step tutorial on how to stretch a cut.  The featured layout was worked with the leftover cuts from the heart cut-out on a previous layout, and lots of watercolor accents.

BEST EVER @scrapbooknerd.com

  • COOL RAD AWESOME DUDE :  The layout documents my son  (and how fast he is transforming into a young adult) using mixed media, Fancy Pants Designs’s Good Fellows collection, and Scrapbook Nerd’s Guy Stuff cut file

COOL RAD AWESOME DUDE @scrapbooknerd

  • ME & YOU :   A playful and simple take on a loving relationship between my baby (doggie) and I.   The layout features Doodlebug Designs’s Puppy Love Collection, and a cut file from The Cut Shoppe.

ME & YOU @scrapbooknerd

I had so much fun creating all this layouts.   It is always fun when i am surrounded by pretty paper.

Thank you for visiting the blog today.  Do not hesitate to contact me, if you have any questions about any of this layouts.

This past week I worked with the My Mind’s Eye – Happy Camper Collection, and funny enough I only made one layout that involved camping. The colours and patterns while completely suitable for camping were leading me down a slightly different path.

Project #2  Rock Climbing

Project #3  Dog Sledding

Welcome to this week’s Friday share!

Here is a recap of my week’s projects:

  1. I documented this trip to the spa with friends with papers and embellishments from Pink Paislee’s Fancy Free collection. Our Friendship is a Work of Art
  2. This layout used a cut file from our free summer cut cut file collection. It is the model for the Got Wood? challenge over on the forum, using the wood grain background paper as well as wood veneer embellishments. The paper is from the Crate Paper Wonder collection.Happy Together
  3. My next layout used Pink Paislee’s Outfitters collection to highlight my boys during a camping trip to Algonquin Park.
    Adventure Awaits
  4. My last layout of the week hosts the Summer Camp Challenge #8 – Stargazing. This challenge invites you to use stars on your project. For me, as the mother of two boys, stars are a staple in my stash. I feel that they add a feeling of action and momentum as well as visual interest and texture.Summer Memories
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful week!

Jillibean Soup Healthy Hello with Barb

Barb @ scrapbooknerd.com

Hello everyone. Welcome to Friday and project reveal day on our blog.
This week I’ve been playing along with the Jillibean Healthy Hello collection and I’ve been loving it! I love the fun, summery colours with the navies. It’s such a refreshing colour combination.

I’m not a girly scrapbooker. I’m most comfortable working with more masculine products, but this collection didn’t make me feel like I was out of my comfort zone. I found it very easy to work with. I know that I will be using every last bit of this collection.

Project One: Insta Love

You’ve seen this layout in the Nerd Academy post, earlier this week. In the tutorial I shared how to add gorgeous foil accents to your project using the new Heidi Swapp Reactive Screen Ink. You can find the tutorial HERE.

Project Two: Sweet Moments

I have to say that I love the Pea Pod parts of the collections – so much so, that I love to buy extras to use the bits with other projects. They are so easy to layer for embellishment clusters.

Project Three: Life Today

How perfect is this collection for a lazy summer morning, sitting outside with a cup of coffee? It really is the perfect collection for all your summer photos!

This layout is also used for the first challenge for the Scrapbook Nerd Summer Camp. Be sure to check out our forum or the Scrapbook Nerd Friends and Fans Facebook page for all the details.

Thanks for checking out my projects this week. Get yourself some Jillibean Healthy Hello and create some amazing projects!

Thanks for checking out my tutorial today. I hope you feel inspired to add some foil to your next project through this beautiful medium.

Simple Stories So Rad

Creative Team @ scrapbooknerd.com

Hello, everyone. Barb here.
I have had a fun time this month playing with the Simple Stories So Rad collection. It’s hard to find good boy collections in the paper crafting industry, but Simple Stories hit it out of the park with this one. It’s a great mix of colours and graphics that is great for boys of all ages.

Project 1 – Anytime Anywhere

As soon as I saw all the gaming icons in this collection, I knew it would be perfect for my guys.! I got a big kick out of the old-school icons too.

Project 2 – Text Me!

Along with all the old-school icons, are current images. I had this photo of my son on his phone while we were on vacation.  Funny thing I that he didn’t even bother to look up when I was taking pictures. Isn’t that quote fantastic??

Project 3 – You Must Be Dreaming

I had this photo of my son. He had fallen asleep in the car, on our way home from purchasing a new set of headphones. I had to take a picture of it. It’s been sitting on my phone for a while, so when I saw the headphone images in this collection, I knew just what I was going too do with it!

After finishing these three layouts, I decided to make some cards with all the left overs.  The first card was seen in the Tutorial posted earlier this week – making a shaker using the WRM Fuse Tool.

I love how quick a card can come together by using the journaling cards!

Thanks for visiting the blog today.  I hope you’ve been inspired by this collection, as I was.

Nerd Girl Fleur’s July Projects

Creative Team @ scrapbooknerd.comI can’t believe July is almost over where has this year gone?  This month I had so much fun playing with the Dear Lizzy Fine and Dandy collection, seriously love the stuff that Dear Lizzy puts out.  I ended up making a ton of stuff even something for my husband for our 24th anniversary.

First up I made this fun wall hanging with the old wood veneer heart from Dear Lizzy and covered it with patterned paper and added the fun number paper clips.

My son’s friend turned 12 this month and we took her our for a Birthday Cake Frap at Starbucks.

I also used this collection to decorate my weeks in my new Happy Planner.

July3 July2

On Tuesday I showed you how to make these fun cards.

I also made some more notebooks, one for the Listers Gotta List challenges and one for a friend.

July9 July8

I also created this layout with lots of hearts you can watch the video on how I created it on my YouTube channel.

Lastly I made this layout with some leftover papers.

Whew so fun 🙂
