Theme week with the designers

Scrapbook Nerd Creative Team

Hello scrappy nerds, Gisele here bringing you some fun projects the design team created following the theme/mood board. What’s a theme board, well it is something to get you motivated and inspired to create. This week’s was an awesome one and I know you are going to love it:)

So isn’t it beautiful? I love all the colours, blues, greys, white, red and even creme. The textures are also wonderful to the bead boards on the cabinet or the scallop on the top shelf, the snow on the branch where that blue jay is, to the ribbed and cable knit blanket on the sofa. If the animals or nature  inspire you, there is a deer or 2, the blue jay, the sunset or sunrise too,   I love everything about this board. so from that, you take whatever gets your juices flowing. If you need a sketch, there is one further down this blog post by Milena.

So I have 2 projects inspired by the mood board. First up is a Happy 2018 Year card using the Pinkfresh  December Days collection.

My next project is a 12×12 LO, using Echo Park, a Perfect Winter collection.

You will see that I have some chipboard and stickers from the collection, some Simple Stories words, and some older AC Thickers from my stash (CAR). My photo is matted with the same collection.

Isn’t that owl precious?? He is a sticker that some foam dimension was added on the back to give dimension.  Then to it, a bit of pattern paper and part of a chipboard border for him to perch on. You can also see the * which was in the AC Thickers I used in the title. A gorgeous snowflake which I added some of my favourite: NUVO Crystal Drops in white for more interest. I love the drops as you can make them the size you want and added it anywhere. They are like enamel drops but you decide what size you want.  I love that. More flexibility and also economical too!

It is a winter LO as I got my car just after Christmas, so the pictures are winter, I added a tag(from December Daily by Pinkfresh) and red floss/twine to it from my stash. More stickers from the collection, the house was backed with foam to pop it a bit and the Nuvo Drops in white was also added there as the sticker showed white specks on the roof. So I just need to follow the dots LOL.

Now, the completed LO, hope you like it 🙂 I went with the colours of the mood board and added some nature elements as well.

Our next designer, Marie Clark. One of Mari’s favorite collections for the holidays this year was the Pink Fresh Studios December Days collection. This collection was so versatile and the colors fit the color theme perfectly. Mari has used the one of her favorite collections for the holidays this year: the Pink Fresh Studios December Days collection. This collection is so versatile and the colors fit the color theme perfectly. Mari has used the Carabelle Studio stamp as part of the layout since she is documenting a celebration of fun creative accomplishments in 2017. This “artsy” stamp fits the journaling perfectly. The photo is backed with many layers of paper and tags as a mat to create more dimension and visual interest on the layout. There is also a bit of machine stitching in gold thread on the layout. This collection has so many fun die cuts, chipboard pieces and papers!! It can be used for non-holiday themed projects.

That teacup cluster is so cute!!

Lots layers and you can see that border stamp from Carabelle Studio too.

The complete view of her LO so gorgeous. I also loved that she used a black and white photo. Great tip if your photos are in colours you would prefer were different because you want to use certain papers…

Milena Woodiwiss is up with a wonderful sketch followed by her LO. Simple but elegant. 3 cluster areas for that visual triangle, journaling and 2 photos.

The mood board made her think of winter and she loved the reds and blue in it. And then once she saw the Scrapbook Nerd ‘Winter Joy’ cut file in the shop, she knew it would be perfect for this sketch and this mood board. Milena used the cut file instead of a the angled piece at the bottom of the sketch. She filled the snowflakes and used the embellishments from Echo Park’s “A Perfect Winter” collection. She used gesso mixed with a bit of water for the splatter background and some Nuvo Glitter Drops in Silver Moondust for the middle of the snowflakes. Now she feels like  going to go snuggle up in front of the fire with a warm cozy blanket!

You can see the Scrapbook Nerd cut file and all the layers here.

The full LO; beautiful 🙂 Love how she used the cut file and the pops of red and white, so Canadian eh?

Nathalie DeSousa is up next with a fabulous layout with a cut file background.

This page was created using Echo Park’s “A Perfect Winter” collection, and one of Paige Evans cut files (the cut file is called flower something, but it looked like snowflakes to me!). Nathalie played with the cut file to get the idea of snowflakes falling, and tied in all the color in the embellishments (all from the collection)  Layout by Nathalie DeSousa using Echo Parks, A Perfect Winter collection.

Thanks, design team members for the gorgeous work from that mood board. I feel I should do another project!!
