Distress Oxide Inks | Mari Clarke

general

Hey Everyone!  Welcome back to the blog today…we have lots of fun ideas to share with you this week focusing on Ranger’s Distress Oxide Inks.  These inks are water-reactive dye & pigment ink fusion that create an oxidized effect when sprayed with water. They can be used with stamps, stencils, and direct to surface. This is the project I created:

These are the inks I am using today:

For the flower, I used a layering stamp and stamped in this order for the blossom: tattered rose, worn lipstick, picked raspberry and candied apple. The center of the flower is stamped with fossilized amber, spiced marmalade, wild honey and carved pumpkin. For the leaves, I used bundled sage, evergreen bough, lucky clover and forest moss.

I started the card with a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 white card stock card front.  I added some antique linen Distress Oxide Ink to that base using a Ranger Stencil Distress Blending Brush and this Echo Park “Picnic Basket” stencil.  Once that was stenciled, I used the Studio Katia “Scalloped Frames” Creative Die to cut the card front.  Then I started to stamp the flower image and leaves on a separate piece of white card stock.

The layered flower and leaves were stamped with the gorgeous AlteNew “Ornamental Flower” Stamp and Die set.  I layered on the ink colors and then die cut the stamped images using the dies and my Sizzix Big Shot.  I stamped a sentiment on the front and inside using the “Sincere Greetings” stamp set from AlteNew.  I embellished my card with the Studio Katia Gold Crystals.  I adhered the crystals with Micro Glue Dots.

The Distress Oxide Inks are one of my favorite new inks in my stash to work with.  They are so versatile; if you were not sure if you could do layered stamping with them, you sure can…and so much more.  Watch for the blog post on Friday when we share all of the Creative Team’s projects from this week!

Have an amazing week, everyone!
