Machine Stitching for Dimension
This week I’m bringing you this multi photo sketch.
It’s a bit hard to see but the area behind the photos is a bit of a collage that’s designed to be made up of various sizes of patterned or plain paper. When I got this part of the page built, I felt it was missing something. It seemed to me to be a bit flat.
I needed something to make those papers stand out from each other. I decided to pull out my new We R Memory Keepers Sewing Machine and try my hand at a bit of machine stitching. I bought that a few months ago and really haven’t used it much even though I really do like it. I adore the look of stitching on a page, but rarely do it. I decided this was the perfect opportunity to give it a try.
You don’t have to do machine stitching and you certainly don’t need a special sewing machine. You could hand stitch or even use a bit of paint or ink on the edges of the small pieces of paper. You could even mat them with card stock to make them stand out more.
My sewing is not the best, parts of it are downright messy!! But I liked the final result.
The next time you find your page needs a bit of something, think about doing some stitching, some inking or some matting to make your elements pop. I hope to see some of your pages designed with this sketch in the gallery or the FaceBook group.
