June Tutorial – Fauxdori
Crate Paper Journey collection DIY fauxdori general Nerd Academy Tips & Tutorials travel notebook tutorial
I love making things with paper not just layouts and when I saw the midoris that people are using (they are like a folder you can use as a travel journal or planner) I decided to give making one myself a go.
You will need notebooks (I got these 5 for a dollar at the dollar store), a 12×12 sheet of patterned paper, embellishments and some ribbon or twine.
First measure your notebook then figure out the size you will need to trim the paper. I added 1″ to the length and doubled plus 1.5″ for the width as the paper will be folded around the notebook. Then figure out your score marks for the middle of the book I left 1/2″ for the bind.
Cut paper and score it. To add a pocket, cut the left over strip down to about 3″ in length or how deep you want the pockets to be.
Glue down the pocket on the three edges then fold the paper along the score lines.
Add the notebook to the pocket and decorate as desired.
Decorate the front as you want and add some twine or ribbon. I left this one open.
You can also make one with ribbon or twine that closes like this one. Just add the ribbon along the paper underneath the embellishments and tie to close.
