Mixed Media on Monday
Card Making cardmaking DIY general Inspiration Mixed Media mixed media Monday Tips & Tutorials
Hi Everyone!
I’m excited to share my project with you today. I’m showing you how I made my own background paper to make a series of mixed media cards. I love creating background in my art journal so working with a large piece of watercolour paper I simply used the same techniques.
I used acrylic paints, a variety of stencils, a piece of text pattern paper (for the circles),
a makeup sponge for stencilling,a few rub-ons, a black sharpie and some spray paint
(watered down acrylic paint in a spray bottle).
Below is the completed 9×12 background paper. I used my stencils in several ways including using a pen to trace the images. The circles are hand cut and a little wonky,I like them that way too I used the same pen to free hand circles on the pattern paper, used a lot of water while adding the paints as a first layer. I love the look of using the same paints in the background for stencilling, I do not water them down and they dry darker than the watered down paints.
Next you simply cut down the paper to the desired card size you wish to make and sentiments and or focal images to finish off your cards. I got six card fronts and one 2.5×11 strip from my background paper.
and the card I shared yesterday
Thank you for stoping by the Scrapbook Nerd blog today, I hope you found some inspiration.
