Mixed media on Monday’s
general home decor Inspiration Mixed Media stencils watercoloring
Hello, hello nerds.
I really like the look of watercolours but I don’t own a watercolour set so for today’s project I used distress inks and a watercolour pen. I primed the wooden sign board with gesso before getting out my modeling paste & stencil.
There’s nothing wrong with your eye’s, the words are a little askew. Sometimes things don’t work out and I decided to move on and add some colour.
The stencil I used is from Donna Downey and it’s one of my favourites. I applied plain modelling paste with a palette knife and allowed it to dry. Using my craft mat as a palette, I pressed my ink pads onto it so I could pick up the ink with the water brush to apply it to my project. It took several layers of ink to get the bold colours you see.
I also used distress inks to colour the flower and attached it with matte medium. The project was missing a finishing touch so I went back in with a chicken wire stencil and more modelling paste in random spots.
Thank you so much for visiting today!
