Playing with Stencils
general Nerd Academy Tips & Tutorials
Hey Nerds! I hope you’re all ready for Christmas!! I just have a few more things to do and then it’s smooth sailing! Except for my oldest’s birthday on December 23rd! It’s always a little hairy having a birthday 2 days before Christmas, but we always have a great time!!
But I digress! I wanted to share a few tips and tricks to playing with your stencils!!
I like painting with my stencils and with one that has such a fine design, I like to use a makeup sponge and some thick paint. I used the Adirondak Picket Fence paint from Ranger for this because it’s nice and thick. Just get a little paint on your sponge and dab it on where you’d like it being careful not to smush it too much so it bleeds.
Just keep going until you get the design you’re happy with!
For my second layout I decided to stamp in my stencil! I had my design pretty much figured out, then I just removed all the paper from my layout and left the stencil.
I actually did this first with a wooden stamp, but I wasn’t able to press down firmly enough, so I flipped the paper over and did it over with a cling stamp and no block. That way I could really press it through my stencil!
I Love the way this tunred out! So fun!
I love being able to stretch your supplies and use them in fun ways!
I can’t wait to see what you do with your stencils!!
Blessings
Sarah
