Tuesday Tutorial | Scrapbooking Alternate Page Sizes

Design Team projects general Scrapbooking Tips & Tutorials

Hey everyone, it’s Mari here!  I am excited to be doing my first blog post for the Scrapbook Nerd Blog.  Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you are inspired today to do something creative in your craft space!

It seems that periodically I am struck with a lack of mojo…this comes and goes, thank goodness!  But something that really helps me get through this is to switch things up a bit in my scrapbooking format.  Moving to a different size of page helps me to get back in the creative groove.

Working on 9×12 or 8 1/2×11 can be refreshing after working on 12×12 for a long period.  Today I am sharing a 9×12 layout that I recently created.

I used the gorgeous “Turn the Page” collection designed by Paige Taylor Evans for Pink Paislee.

I started my layout with paper 23 from the collection.  I sized the paper down by three inches on one side.  I used a vertical strip of paper 5 on the left side of the layout.  Then I cut a thin strip of a 6×6 paper in green and placed that adjacent to the vertical strip; this creates the perfect resting place for a photo, title, journaling and/or embellishments.

Creating the horizontonal “shelf” slightly lower than half way down the page, allows the design to have space above for the bulk of the content and leaves an area below to create some interest as well.  I chose to create a “non-photo” layout for my story with this project.  Sometimes documenting is more about the story than a photo…this was the case for my layout.

With the 9×12 size, there is plently of space to include the focal journaling/photo as well as fun embellishing.  I added this embellishment cluster in the lower right corner of the layout just by layering some of the die cuts and stickers from “Turn the Page”.  The beautiful thing about the 9×12 size is that you can still include all of the elements without trying to create the larger design.

Here is a list of supplies I used on the project:

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today!!  We appreciate it so much!  Have a wonderful day, and happy crafting!!

xxMari
